Overview of general comments
Recreation Aotearoa has submitted on the proposed first National Conservation Policy Statement (NCPS), which will become a key instrument governing recreation, public access, visitor management and outdoor education across New Zealand’s public conservation land. A major focus of our submission is ensuring recreation interests are properly recognised in area planning and visitor management, and that the new framework protects the quality and diversity of recreation experiences. We also strongly advocate for qualifying not-for-profit outdoor education providers to be exempt from the concessions regime, removing unnecessary cost, delay and inequity while helping more young New Zealanders access meaningful outdoor education experiences.
