Facility Management Manual
The New Zealand Recreation Association (Recreation Aotearoa), representing the facilities sector recognises that there is a need to have up to date industry standards and guidelines. The Facility Management Manual outlines current best practice and industry standards, and provides templates and requirements for managers and operators of facilities.
The Facility Management Manual has been produced in electronic form for easy navigation though the information. It also contains templates for managers to download and customise to create documents like checklists, normal operating procedures and emergency action plans.

Community Sport and Recreation Facility Development Guide
Sport New Zealand is committed to supporting local government, and national, regional and local sports organisations to deliver a greater proportion of community sport and recreation facilities that are more affordable, efficient, effective and sustainable.
Both the summary guide (23 pages) and the full guide (250 pages) can be found on the Sport New Zealand website.
The guide has a particular focus on the affordability and whole-of-life financial sustainability of multi-sports centres that can meet a range of community needs while complying with best practice and the required standards. It includes reference facility designs, and provides a step-by-step process and supporting information for the six stages of the best-practice facility lifecycle. Designed to help those looking to build or develop a community aquatic and/or indoor sports facility, the guide builds on the principles of the National Sporting Facilities Framework.
