Recreation Aotearoa AGM - November 2024

The Recreation Aotearoa Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held at the Due Drop Events Centre, Manukau on Wednesday 13 November 2024 at 1pm. The agenda includes Board elections, proposed constitutional changes, and a Life Membership nomination.

Recreation Aotearoa Board elections

Voting is still open for three vacant positions on the Recreation Aotearoa Board. Online voting will be open until 5pm on 11 November. In-person votes may be cast at the Recreation Aotearoa AGM on 13 November. Proxy votes must be received 48 hours in advance of the meeting.

Proposed Constitution changes

The Recreation Aotearoa Board is proposing changes to our Constitution to strengthen our commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and ensure we comply with the new Incorporated Societies Act 2022.

These changes are a result of the Mahi Ngātahi Governance Review, which has been led by the Board and supported by a working group and Gibson Sheat Lawyers.

Members are asked to vote on the following motions:

Motion 1

That the existing constitution of the New Zealand Recreation Association Incorporated (“existing constitution”) be revoked and replaced with the updated Constitution of Recreation Aotearoa Te Whai Oranga Incorporated (“New Constitution”). 

Motion 2

That the new constitution and an application for re-registration under the Incorporated Societies Act 2022 be submitted to the registrar of Incorporated Societies with the new constitution to take effect on the date it is registered.

Life Membership nomination

We have received an honorary Life Membership nomination for Chris Rutherford

Under clause 5.4 of the existing Constitution life members must be elected at an Annual General Meeting by a ¾ majority of the votes of voting members. The Recreation Aotearoa Board have endorsed the nomination.

That Life Membership of Recreation Aotearoa is granted to Chris Rutherford.
